New Version Improves Performance, Adds Smart Trace and Supports Esri Utility Network Model  

Automated Utility Design™ Version 8.0 (AUD) is now available!  AUD 8.0 is the biggest release todate from SBS and adds several significant enhancements to the product.  Most notable  are the extended capabilities to support integration with Esri’s ArcGIS Pro and the new Utility Network (UN) Management extension which was announced during our January 2019 blog post While these new features were designed to support Esri Utility Network, the capabilities will improve data exchange between most advanced GIS systems including G/Tech and Smallworld.  While the previous post highlighted AUD’s advanced modeling capabilities and improved editing features, this post will focus on some of the key new AUD capabilities.

SBS is pleased to announce Chris Ducote has joined out team! Chris started in the Utility Industry in 2005 with Central Louisiana Electric Company, using GIS to map electric networks and substation property acquisitions. In 2012, Chris accepted a role with Dis-Tran, a leading provider of Packaged Substation solutions. It was there he developed extensive substation design skills, with a particular focus on the advantages gained by using SBS’ Substation Design Suite™ for 3D design. His knowledge of process automation, geospatially-aligned substation design and GIS make him a great addition to our growing team of experts.  Welcome, Chris!

PPL Electric Utilities to Host Spring Substation Design Consortium Meeting

PPL Electric Utilities will be hosting the Spring meeting of the Substation Design Solution Industry Consortium (SDSIC) April 9 – 12 at the PPL Conference Center at Walbert, near Allentown, PA.  The SDSIC is a group of utilities, consulting engineers and key vendors that have adopted or are considering adoption of SBS’ Substation Design Suite™ software products. Release of AUD 7.1™ Available 1 June 2017

Spatial Business Systems (SBS) announces the release of Automated Utility Design™ (AUD) 7.1 available 1 June 2017.

AUD 7.1 is a plug-in available for both the AutoCAD Map 3D 2017 and AutoCAD Map 3D 2018 platforms.
AUD now has a new naming convention. Previous releases were based on calendar years. But starting with AUD 7.1, new releases of AUD will provide customers more flexibility as upgrades will no longer have a strict dependency on the underlying AutoCAD Map 3D platform version. New upgrades of AUD will be available for multiple versions of AutoCAD Map 3D, allowing customers to benefit from improvements to AUD without requiring company-wide changes to their existing installed base of AutoCAD or AutoCAD Map 3D.
